The IC616 cooling method is a specialized system utilized primarily in high-voltage three-phase asynchronous motors.
Technically defined as a "Total Enclosed Air-to-Air Cooling" system with independent blower circulation, IC616 offers superior thermal management for motors operating in harsh or variable-speed environments. Unlike standard shaft-mounted fans (IC411), IC616 utilizes an external fan (independent of the motor's rotor speed) to drive air through an upper-mounted heat exchanger.
As industrial automation demands higher reliability, IC616 has become the gold standard for mining, power generation, and chemical processing where constant torque at low speeds can cause standard motors to overheat.
