Sunvim Motor
Direct engineering links for standard and custom requirements, fully compliant with Irish grid dynamics.
As the Republic of Ireland aggressively steers toward its binding Climate Action Plan mandates—targeting a **51% absolute reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions by 2030** and carbon neutrality by 2050—the industrial sector finds itself under intense legislative and economic pressure. Industrial processes and commercial infrastructure in major hubs such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick account for a massive share of the national electricity demand. In particular, motor-driven systems (including industrial pumps, heavy-duty ventilation, wastewater treatment impellers, and chemical mixers) consume up to 70% of total electrical energy across manufacturing sites.
Historically, standard squirrel-cage induction motors (primarily IE3 class) served as the workhorses of Irish industry. However, under the updated **EU Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2019/1781**, standard efficiency levels are no longer sufficient to offset spiraling wholesale electricity tariffs in Western Europe. Enter the **Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM)**—a highly disruptive, game-changing technology that offers **IE4 and IE5 (Ultra-Premium Efficiency)** performance without the environmental baggage, volatile costs, or geo-political vulnerabilities associated with rare-earth permanent magnet motors.
"By implementing SynRM technology, Irish processing plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and wastewater infrastructures can expect instant reductions in energy consumption of up to 10-15%, significantly shortening payback periods and satisfying stringent Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements."
The Irish industrial landscape is uniquely structured, characterized by high concentrations of high-tech and continuous-process operations. Our specialized Synchronous Reluctance Motors address the precise technical challenges found within these key segments:
With over 60 years of deep-rooted expertise in electric motor research and manufacturing, Shandong Sunvim Motor Co., Ltd. represents the pinnacle of industrial innovation. Following a strategic corporate transformation in 2022, we have rapidly established a high-standard, modernized production ecosystem tailored for the future of global industry.
Backed by the powerful resources of Sunvim Group—a multi-billion RMB conglomerate—Shandong Sunvim Motor Co., Ltd. benefits from strong financial stability and strategic growth. Our expansive facilities house over 400 sets of advanced manufacturing, precision testing, and automated supporting equipment, driving an impressive annual production capacity of up to 3 million kilowatts.
Today, Sunvim Motor has evolved into a premier enterprise seamlessly integrating R&D, world-class manufacturing, global distribution, and dedicated customer service. The SUNVIM brand has earned widespread international recognition, trusted by global OEMs and industrial buyers across premier markets, including Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, South Africa, Slovakia, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and now expanding aggressively into Ireland.
To understand why Synchronous Reluctance Motors outperform conventional induction systems, we must analyze the physical differences in rotor construction. While a standard induction motor utilizes a squirrel-cage rotor made of copper or aluminum bars—which inevitably generates significant joule losses (I²R rotor heating)—the SynRM rotor contains **no electrical windings, no cage bars, and no permanent magnets**. Instead, it is constructed from high-grade, micro-laminated silicon steel sheets engineered with highly optimized air-filled flux barriers.
By directing the magnetic flux lines along the path of minimum magnetic reluctance, the stator's rotating magnetic field pulls the highly anisotropic rotor in perfect synchronization. Because there are no circulating currents inside the rotor, **rotor losses are reduced to virtually zero**.
Eliminating current paths on the rotor reduces internal temperatures by up to 30°C compared to induction motors. This dramatically extends bearing grease life and winding insulation duration.
Unlike Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), SynRMs contain zero neodymium or dysprosium. This translates into highly predictable manufacturing costs and insulation from geopolitical mining disruptions.
SynRMs maintain exceptional efficiency levels even when running at 25% or 50% capacity, outperforming induction drives which suffer steep efficiency drops when loaded below nominal ratings.
The lightweight structure of the slotless, winding-free rotor delivers up to 35% lower rotor inertia. This enables high dynamic acceleration cycles and fast speed response loops.
It is important to state that Synchronous Reluctance Motors cannot be run directly off the grid (Direct-On-Line). They require a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD / VSD) running modern, sensorless vector control or field-oriented control algorithms. As a premium exporter to the Irish market, Shandong Sunvim Motor ensures that our SCZ Series is fully compatible with major European variable drive systems, including ABB, Danfoss, Siemens, and Schneider Electric.
We invest heavily in state-of-the-art machinery to maintain micro-millimetric tolerances on our high-efficiency SynRM rotors and stators.
With a legacy spanning six decades, Sunvim Motor has adapted dynamically to multiple technological cycles. From a local electrical workshop to a global heavy-duty machinery leader, our history is our foundation of trust.
Gaomi Electric Appliance Factory was established, focusing on foundational electrical repairs. In 1988, expanded and renamed as Weifang Electric Machinery Factory.
Mr. Sun, our visionary factory director, departed Gaomi Electric Appliance Factory to establish the Gaomi Towel Factory, which served as the multi-billion RMB foundation of the Sunvim Group.
Weifang Electric Machinery Factory was formally acquired by the industrial powerhouse Sunvim, prompting the establishment of Shandong Sunvim Electrical Machinery Co. Ltd.
Completion of our high-standard, hyper-modern manufacturing facility in the Sunvim Industrial Park, rebranding to Shandong Sunvim Motor Co., Ltd. to capture global exports.
