In modern heavy industries, the adoption of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) is key to energy conservation, process control, and motor longevity. However, driving standard induction motors via VFDs introduces severe electrical stresses, harmonic distortions, and heating challenges. Sunvim Motor designs high-performance variable-frequency-driven solutions designed to mitigate these phenomena, assuring reliable continuous operation.
Repetitive, high dV/dt pulses generated by modern IGBT inverters can lead to voltage spikes and partial discharge inside motor windings. Our motors utilize Class F/H insulation systems treated with Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) and corona-resistant enamelled copper wire to prevent breakdown.
Operating at low frequencies reduces the self-cooling capacity of standard shaft-driven fans. To counteract thermal build-up under constant-torque loads, Sunvim provides auxiliary-powered forced cooling systems (IC416) that guarantee continuous cooling independent of the rotor speed.
Common-mode voltages induced by VFD switching cycles can create electrical paths through the bearings, causing premature failure. We offer optional insulated non-drive end bearings and shaft grounding rings to safely divert parasitic currents and extend motor lifetime.

While IE3 and IE4 efficiency standards remain widely used in heavy industry, Sunvim's R&D department is working to increase the production share of IE5 ultra-premium efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) and Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM).
